Week eight of the current Middlesea Valletta National League, being played at the Eden SuperBowl, saw Globalair Travel advance to a joint third place after a high scoring win over last season's champs Veltins.

Globalair won the match 6 - 2, clocking the highest team series of the week to go level with Ramis who were 6 - 2 losers against second placed Fina Excel. Div I Leaders Aercomms extended their advantage by two points with the only full point win of the week against strugglers the Blues Brothers. Elsewhere there were a flurry of 6 - 2 wins for Alley Catz over The Rascals, Storm over Royal Shock and Fina First over Right Deal.

Globalair Travel's 2,370 tally marked another good win over Veltins (6th), although the former showed a lack of consistency over the three-game set.

They opened with a steamroller of a win, taking game one with 834 pins against a relatively 716 from Veltins.

The tables turned in the second game which went to Veltins 738 - 760, but Globalair still held a 96 pin cushion over the two games. Globalair regained their composure for the decider, winning it 798 - 757 and claiming the series points by 137 pins (2370 - 2233). Dominic Vella shot a 607 series for Globalair Travel, and Veltins' best was a 577 from Sue Abela.

League favourites Aercomms were the only team to win all eight points in week eight, relegation candidates the Blues Brother finishing on the losing end. Aercomms' game improved throughout the series, as they won game one 730 - 702, then game two 792 - 641 before their best game of the night in game three which they won 816 - 774. Aercomms are now nine points ahead on 51 points, and their top man this week was Kenneth Arpa with an excellent 629 series. Top dog for the losers was World Record Breaker Giancalro Tolu with his 558 total.

Second placed Fina Excel claimed a 6 - 2 victory this week against Ramis (3rd). Game one was a very poor display from both teams, falling to Excel 670 - 647, but things improved in the second game which also ended in Fina Excel's favour; 763 - 721. Game three was the best of the match from both parties, and Ramis' chance to claim their two point share, as they won it 757 - 781, but remained 41 pins down on the series (2190 - 2149). The winners' best bowler was Mark Spiteri with his 591 series, and Charles Farrugia managed a 514 for Ramis.

Fina First are 15 behind the leaders in fifth place, but picked up a 6 - 2 win against Right Deal (7th) to stay within reach the title fight. Like sister team Fina Excel, Fina First won the first two games with game scores of 712 - 658 and 762 - 720.

Right Deal pulled their socks up for the final game and clinched their two point dividend with a 751 - 766 result. Mauro Anastasi picked up a 592 for Fina First, who took the series points by 81 pins (2,225 - 2,144), and Right Deal's best came from Danial Swift (542).

Storm (8th) banked six points this week, from Royal Shock who are currently in tenth place. They started the encounter like champions, winning the opener 800 - 765 before taking game two with a great score of 780 - 665.

Game three was Royal Shock's chance for glory as they came back to win it by 90 pins 663 - 753, which left them 60 pins down on the series.

Mike Gutiza surprised his Storm team mates with a 585 series, while Clive Farrugia bowled a fine 647 for Royal Shock.

The final match of week eight ended yet another 6 - 2 score line, in favour of Alley Catz (9th) against bottom side

The Rascals. It was a case of tit-for-tat in the first two games of the set, game one going to Alley Catz 749 - 668. with the latter drawing level with a 715 - 772 win in game two.

Alley Catz had the pinfall advantage going into game three and claimed the match with a 792 - 735 win. Rankin Camilleri rolled a 590 for the winners and Lawrence Bonnici claimed a 564 for The Rascal.
