European champions Malta 1 obtained the second consecutive win in the european team championship, easily disposing of France 2, 17-1. The team started the defence of the title with a win against Belgium.

The other Maltese teams in action yesterday had mixed fortunes. Malta 2 was beaten 8-10 by Finland in the men’s competition.

In the seniors competition, Malta 1 drew with 4-4 with the Republic of Ireland, and Malta 2 had an easy 7-1 win over France
