The two Malta teams in the seniors event qualified for the next round after both finished second in their qualifying group.

In Group A, Malta 1 finished second after being involved in a play-off against the Republic of Ireland 2. Wales finished on top of the group.

Malta 2 finished second in Group B behind Scotland. The other teams who have qualified are the Republic of Ireland 1 and Poland from Group C and England and Iceland from Group D.

In the team event, Malta 2 lost 12-6 against England while the Malta 3 side lost heavily 15-3 against Germany. Scotland also beat Israel 16-2, Netherlands beat Iceland 11-7 and England 3 beat France 1 12-6.

The championship continues today at the Dolmen Hotel in Bugibba.
