This year's SAN MICHEL teams tournament at VLTC got underway in January and is expected to come to an end round near the end of this month.

The tournament, which is sponsored by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. is being played on a round robin basis between six teams.

A large number of players, consisting of both seasoned and newcomers, is taking part in this year's event. This response is considered as a recognition of SAN MICHEL's constant contribution towards the development of the game in Malta.

After five Saturdays of entertaining tennis, Carmen Difesa's and Carmen Elden's teams head the list by 28 points.

The standings of all the teams are: Team A (R Bezzina) 27 points; Team B (C Difesa) 28 points; Team C (C Elden) 28 points; Team D (V Vassallo) 15 points; Team E (R D'Alessandro) 25 points; Team A (A Sammut) 27 points.

A tight race for the first four places is anticipated. At that stage, semi-finals will be played on a knock out basis with the final being played on The Modelshop court.
