Dyson Falzon showed all his class yesterday scoring three goals as a depleted Mosta side returned to winning form beating Mosta 3-1.

It was a deserved win as Mosta were always the better side. Mosta who started without Pio Vassallo, Pio Scriha, Chibueze and Ives Bilocca were still better than their opponents who are now in relegation trouble.

Apart Dyson Falzon’s five star performance, Philip Camilleri and Rodrick Asciak were both in superb form, and these three players were the pillars for Mosta’s success.

Marsa went ahead in the 7th minute when Gilbert Martin creted havoc in the Mosta penalty area beating three defenders in the process before crossing to Joseph Casha who half volleyed in the top corner of the net.

Mosta were finding it hard to penetrate up front and the Marsa defence controlled with ease. On 26 minutes Mosta’s first attempt at goal was through a feeble header by Agius.

It was however the prelude of Mosta’s equaliser.

A minute later Rodrick Asciak made full use of a Derren Vella slip in midfield and passed to Dyson Falzon who dribbled past Attard before scoring with a grounder.

Two minutes later Mosta went close to taking the lead but Asciak failed to capitalise on a Marsa defensive blunder.

On 31 minutes Brian Agius first timed beautifully following a short Asciak freekick, but Attard saved well.

On 33 minutes Mosta turned the tide in their favour when a Rodrick Asciak cross from the left was not cleared by the Marsa defence and Dyson Falzon nipped in to score.

Marsa had a good opportunity to score the equaliser minutes later but Grima’s header slightly missed the target. Just before the break Mosta’s Dyson Falzon missed his hat-trick when he lobbed high all alone in front of goal.

Grima had a good try missing the target for Marsa at the start of the second half. Camilleri was unlucky for Mosta when he hit the crossbar.

However on 65 minutes Mosta scored their third goal with a well executed move between Camilleri and Asciak, with the latter passing to Falzon who sealed his hat-trick with a low shot.

Marsa were unlucky minutes later when shots by Zammit and Casha were blocked by Mosta defenders.

On the other end Mosta went very close to their fourth goal with Attard denying Camilleri and from the rebound it was Buttigieg who saved off the line a Dyson Falzon shot.
