The Malta Amateur Wrestling Federation organised another successful tournament for youths and cadets in its British Airways Series.

A big number of youths from three wrestling clubs with nurseries participated at the gym of the Furtu Selvatico Trade School of Naxxar. However, there was one weight category reserved for seniors who were in their very beginning career on the wrestling mat.

Once more the team from Stella Maris College of Gzira emerged winners in the team classification totalling 24.6 points ahead of the Qawra Church Pre Youth Centre and the Furtu Selvatico Trade School of Naxxar who ended up second and third, scoring 17.5 and 11 points in that order.

As was expected, Malta’s leading junior wrestler Jason Zammit of the Furtu Selvatico Trade School won the 84kg in the Junior Division ahead of Waylon Mifsud of the Qawra team who placed a credible second.

Also in this division, promising wrestler David Sant from Qawra and Dulsimo Zahra of Stella Maris College shared first place in the 69kg category.

On the other hand Joe Aquilina of Qawra triumphed in the senior 66kg category over Luke Debono of the Naxxar Trade School who placed second.

46kg: Christian Sammut (Pre Youth Centre Qawra).

49kg: Mathew Bonnici (Stella Maris College Gzira).

54kg: David Galea (Pre Youth Centre Qawra).

63kg: Mathew Vella (Furtu Selvatico Trade School Naxxar).

85kg: Charlot Borg (Furtu Selvatico Trade School Naxxar)

100kg: Karl Paris (Stella Maris College Gzira).
