This year’s San Michel Team Tournament, which is sponsored by Simonds Farsons Cisk, through their product “San Michel Table Water”, is a historical one for the Tennis Club Kordin due to the participation record, which is the highest for the last 13 years. One hundred and eighty players (180), 84 men, 72 ladies and 24 junior players have applied to take part.

Six teams, headed by captains R. D’Alessandro (Team ‘A’), D. Portelli (Team ‘B’), J. Vella (Team ‘C’), D. Elden (team ‘D’), A. Vella Bonnici (Team ‘E’) and S. Farrugia (Team F) have been formed.

Each team is competing in nine different categories; each category corresponds to the standard of the players. All categories carry the same points.

The tournament is a Round Robin one on a two rounds basis. The selection of teams was made on Monday during a Captains’ meeting.

The tournament is starting today. and comes to an end with the Final on 29.May. All matches will be played every weekend and public holidays, the only exception being, the weekend of Holy Week.

Fixtures: (today and tomorrow): A vs. C (Court 1); B vs. D (Court 2); E vs. F (Court 3).

Play starts at 1.45pm
