Four People arrested after drug busts

The police drug section has continued to register positive results, with a number of drug busts in Paola and Paceville, which led to the arrest of four people, among whom is a married couple.

The first raid took place on Saturday at a residence in Paola where the police seized around 250 grammes of cannabis resin. Here the police arrested a married couple aged 37 and 29 and a 33-year-old Libyan man from Qormi, who is married to a Maltese woman.

Duty magistrate Miriam Hayman was informed about the drug find and appointed a number of court experts to assist her in the magisterial inquiry.

The drug squad also seized 24 ecstasy pills and a number of sachets containing cocaine which were found in the possession of a 25-year-old man who was drinking in a bar in Paceville. The raid took place at around 3am.

All four people have been arrested and are assisting the police in their investigations. It is understood that they will be charged in court in the next few days.
