After a week’s break to give way to the Medicup 2005 qualifying tournament, the Middlesea Valletta Life National League returned to the Eden SuperBowl last week, where although leaders Aercomms took all eight points from Right Deal, the upset of the night was a 0-8 thrashing Fina First at the hands of Ramis.
This took Ramis to second place while the once mighty Fina First slipped to fourth. Globalair Travel stay third after beating The Rascals 6-2, and elsewhere there were good wins for Fina Excel against Storm (8-0), Veltins over the Blues Brothers (2-6) and for Alley Catz vs Royal Shock (6-2).
Ramis made their big win over Fina First look easy, mainly thanks to an uncharacteristically weak performance from their illustrious opponents. The latter offered up a 695 against Ramis’ 766 score in game one, and failed to crack the 700 mark again in game two which they also lost 698-743.
The Fina frustration was obvious, and although they managed to improve a little in the final game of the set they were beaten again by some 66 pins, 723-789 the score to complete Ramis’ big victory. Benny Hili marked a 573 on his card for Ramis, and there was a 589 for Fina’s Dennis Mercieca.
Aercomms came into their match fresh from an amazing 0-8 beating of Fina Excel in their postponed week eleven match, in which they smashed the season-to-date high series with their incredible combined 2,676 effort. Kenneth Arpa also took the highest series to date with his 740 tally.
Week 12 saw Aercomms clash with the unpredictable Right Deal (7th) and take an easy eight points, as they were once again out to impress, claiming the team series of the week with 2393 pins. The three game scores progressed 744-705, 809-741, 840-729 and Aercomms top dog was Ray Falzon Reale on 627. His opposite number for Right Deal was Melissa Camenzuli with a 559 series.
