Naxxar put this semi-final into the fifth match and in a closely fought game they turned the tables on Hibs in the final moments after losing a long advantage throughout the match.

Naxxar had the better start, going ahead 11-2 before the Paolites could recover but Naxxar were always in control. In the second quarter they extended their lead to a 23-13 score and then to 29-24.

In the latter stages of the second session, Naxxar’s lead fell down again as Hibs gained three baskets in a row for a 43-38 score. In the final quarter Hibs put in an extra sprint and they managed to grab the lead at last, on a minimal 46-45 score. Irene Farrugia’s trey put Naxxar back in front but Doreen Parnis’ free shots gave the Paolites a slim lead again.

But it was not to be as Sandra Schembri Wismayer continued to give her team the match with a basket and a late free shot.
