Five nurseries, namely Gudja, Mosta, Santa Lucija, B’Bugia and Melita, took part in the Under-Eight football festival organised by the Gudja Youth Nursery.

The ‘Man extra on pitch’ rule was also introduced. Any team losing with a score of more than 6-0 had the opportunity to play with an extra player in order to reduce the difference between teams until they reached a difference of 3-0, then the player would be withdrawn again from the team. Alas, this rule was not used as teams never had a difference of six goals.

The children played and played and never got tired although temperatures rose up to 19°C.

All went home tired but happy. Players were given a free Fitgar drink, a free haversack from Legea and a medal kindly sponsored by Vivaldi Hotels.

The organisers said the festival was a great success especially because no one got hurt and one could see the happy smiles on the children’s faces. At the end of the day that was all that mattered.
