Football: Week Of celebrations by Sliema Wanderers

Sliema W. are celebrating their 26th title win throughout this week with several activities for the supporters, players and committee members.

These started on Tuesday with an activity organised by the Sliema Band Club.

Yesterday there was an activity at the premises in Tower Road. Today, the Smash TV programme Sliema Review, at 6pm, will be specially prepared for the occasion. At 7.30pm there will be another activity in Annunciation Square organised by the Stella Maris BC.

Tomorrow, also at 7.30pm, the Mt Carmel Musical Society of Balluta will be organising another activity at their club in St Helen Street at 7.30pm.

On Saturday, another activity, starting at 8pm, will be held at the San Girgor Parish Centre in Blanche Street.

On Sunday there will be a carcade starting at 1.45pm from the Ferries to the Stadium at Ta’ Qali. At 2.45pm, there will be a variety spectacle leading to the match against Hibernians.

After the match and the presentation of the Cup, there will be another spectacle at the Ferries in Sliema, starting at 7pm. The defile of decorated floats including that carrying the players is due to arrive at 8.45pm. At 12.30am, there will be an ‘after hour celebration party’ at Boogies Club Bar in Ball Street, Paceville, for players, officials and supporters. Admission is free.

The celebrations are to come to an end on Friday 13 May with a dinner dance organised by Sliema Wanderers FC at the New Dolmen Hotel, Bugibba. The price is Lm6.50 for adults and Lm4 for children.

For this occasion, a new CD has been recorded. All those who buy it will be given a free poster in colour. It is on sale at all Band Clubs, Sliema Wanderers FC, Mangion Stationery (near the Police Station) and Blue Star (Mrabat Street).

The Supporters Club is also selling new T-shirts and a special edition of the magazine Blue Review is being distributed free of charge.
