Tennis Europe at the 30th annual general meeting, held recently in Malta and hosted by the Maltese Tennis Federation.

It is the second term for Mr James, who has been involved with the organisation in varying roles since his 1981 appointment as Secretary of the Lawn Tennis Association of Great Britain.

Mr. James commented “I am very honoured and proud to be elected for a second term. I feel that we have made much progress in a number of key areas in the past three years, and I look forward to the next with energy and enthusiasm.”

John James continued - “ I am also pleased to see many of my colleagues from the Committee of Management returned to office, as it is a clear sign that our member nations are happy with both our policies and our performance.”

Other organisational changes included the approval of the promotion to B-Nation status of Belarus and Bulgaria.

Amongst the speakers was ITF Executive Vice-President Juan Margets, who addressed the delegates on the opening day.

Other items on the agenda included a discussion of issues related to the tennis industry in Europe, as well as updates on every facet of Tennis Europe’s core activities.

As is tradition at the event, Tennis Europe’s annual awards for services to the game were announced.

Amongst those honoured at the official dinner were Helmut Hauer from Austria, Frank Goodman (Great Britain), Yves Freson (Belgium), Agustin Pujol (Spain), Tofig Dadashev (Azerbaijan), and Goran Ivanisevic (Croatia).
