Labour MP Anton Refalo is not correct when he says that the passenger tariff for Gozitans on the Gozo Channel ferry will increase from 50c to 75 cents as from 1 June, the Investments, Industry and IT Ministry said in a statement yesterday.
The legal notice published in June 2004 was very clear about this, the statement added. “The tariff for Gozitan passengers in June 2004 was 50c, will remain 50c in June this year and will still be 50c in June 2006. Elderly persons paid 75c in June 2004, will pay 75c in June this year and will continue to pay 75c in June 2006. Other passengers paid Lm2 in June 2004, will pay Lm2 in June this year and will continue to pay Lm2 in June 2006,” the statement said.
This is not a revelation but a declared fact that was published in a legal notice almost a year ago, it continued.
