Relegated Balzan finished a dismal season on a top note beating the other relegated side Gozo FC in a one sided affair. The Gozitans, were as usual with a reduced force, with only thirteen players in their line up, and without a reserve goalkeeper.

Their goalkeeper however was very much in action as Balzan were constantly on the offensive.

The Gozitans' start was very promising, but they faded out completely after the first fifteen minutes giving way to Balzan's complete dominance. Gozo's best chance came on ten minutes when Mark Muscat all alone in front of goal failed miserably, handicapped by the sorry state of the Victor Tedesco Stadium surface.

On 22 minutes Balzan went ahead when Simon Mizzi passed to Alistair Camilleri whose shot on the turn beat Donald Gauci. Two minutes later the same player lobbed beautifully over a helpless Gauci after receiving from Sciortino.

Balzan were now in full command of the match and could have added further goals on 34 minutes when from another Sciortino cross from the right, Monreal was unlucky when his first timer slammed against the upright.

Two minutes later the Goziatns were saved by the crossbar when a perfect Beppe Pace lob beat Gauci but landed on the crossbar.

In the second half Balzan continued to pile up the pressure and after only two minutes they scored the third goal, when Alistair Camilleri had a fine run on the left flank and crossed to the unmarked Simon Mizzi who slotted home from close range.

On 62 minutes Alistair Camilleri notched his hat trick, scoring the best one, when he scored with a beautiful overhead kick from the heart of the penalty area. Nine minutes later Camilleri wnet close to his fourth goal but he hit the post after dribbling past the Gozitan goalkeeper.

However Camilleri's poker was in the air and he obtained it in the 73rd minute following a pass from Aaron Agius. In the dying minutes the Gozitans went close to scoring their consolation goal when Francalanza hit the base of the upright following a fine run on the left.
