Malta Independent Thursday, 19 May 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

PRES (Production & Event Services) has received a message by email from David Gilmour and Nick Mason through one of the main Pink Floyd websites, www.brain-damage.co.uk. The message carries the legendary Floyd members’ best wishes to all Maltese Pink Floyd fans and augurs every success for the forthcoming Australian Pink Floyd Concert to be held in Malta on 25 June. Gilmour and Mason also expressed their best wishes to The Eden Foundation, praising them for the continuous work that they carry out to give children with special needs a future.

The concert is being held in aid of The Eden Foundation and David Gilmour expects the people to be generous towards the appeal that will be made during the concert. A group of foreign journalists specialising in Pink Floyd’s music, including Matt Johns of www.brain-damage.co.uk, Dott. Zaccheo Pirani of www.pink-floyd.it and a journalist from www.heyou.it, will also be attending the concert in Malta. Foreign interest in the concert has been growing steadily, and a significant number of British and Italian fans are expected to fly in especially for the event, which has also drawn attention of the Italian official Italian Pink Floyd fansite, www.pink-floyd.it.

A couple of weeks ago, a group of Maltese music correspondents and journalists representing the most prominent newspapers and TV stations in Malta were special guests of PRES (Malta) and CMP Entertainment to attend the sold-out Australian Pink Floyd Show at the prominent Manchester Evening Arena. The group had time to attend sound and light checks and was given access to all areas, including an interview with band members and sound engineer Colin Norfield, who had worked with the original Pink Floyd on The Division Bell Tour.

The group was impressed by the Australian Pink Floyd Show’s high level of presentation, particularly the precision and clarity of the sound and the vibrant light show, which, together with the professional musicians’ onstage performance made the concert a memorable one.
