Marsaxlokk’s outgoing president Victor Sciriha will not be seeking re-election when the club’s Executive Committee will be elected during the Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday 9 June.
Although Mr Sciriha has already hinted to his decision earlier, confirmation of his abstinence from presidency was confirmed by the club’s present secretary Carmen Carabott, in a press release.
The latter is also not contesting the coming elections, together with treasurer Peter Carabott.
Despite all their spendings at the start of the season, and signings of several new players, Marsaxlokk have gone through a disappointing campaign, finishing in fifth place of the Championship Pool and eliminated by Msida St Joseph in the semi-final of the FA Trophy.
This might have led to Mr Sciriha’s decision to quit his post.
The much rumoured transfer of Malta’s U/21 international goalkeeper Rueben Gauci from Floriana, is now very much in doubt.
