Games For European Small States – Shooting: Chetcuti hopes to defend Malta gold medal

Shooting Federation president Saviour Portelli is also confident that his shooters will be doing well, especially the young William Chetcuti who arrived in Andorra on Friday after having finished 13th in last week’s world championship in Rome.

Portelli told me: “Had Chetcuti taken part in the Under 18 category, he would have run away with the title of world champion. But this is his last year in that category and we believe it was time to put him on the same line as the top marksmen. Actually he finished joined 12th, but I think he can still achieve much better results.

“In Andorra he will be defending the gold medal he won in Malta. Of course, he is among the favourites once again, but he must be fully concentrated and register consistent good scores to remain on top.”
