Malta Olympic Committee general secretary Joe Cassar will be contesting the post of general secretary of the International Committee of the Games for the European Small States.

This became known yesterday after a meeting of the committee in Andorra La Vella. He will be contesting the election with another candidate from Luxembourg.

The committee confirmed that the 12th edition of the Games is to be held in Monaco in 2007 where there will be no shooting and no cycling.

Instead, gymnastics, bowls and sailing are to be included as well as the usual disciplines, that is, tennis, table-tennis, athletics, swimming, judo, basketball and volleyball.
