Malta is to start with a 1-0 lead against Monaco in the semi-final of today’s team competition as the Monaco team will be having one girl short due to the withdrawal of the lightweight competition.

This means that one victory from the remaining two bouts will guarantee a place in the final for the Maltese team.

With Marcon Bezzina having claimed the gold medal in the singles event, this should be considered as an easy task.

The other semi-final is to be contested by Andorra and Cyprus.
