The death of Major Alfred Briffa, one of Malta’s top sports personalities, was announced yesterday.
A former MOC president, Major Briffa was the leader of the Maltese contingent during the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.
He was also a well known top football and waterpolo referee during his illustrious sporting career.
Only last December, Major Briffa was included in the Olympic Hall of fame by the Malta Olympic Committee as a tribute to his dedication and sterling contribution to Maltese sports.
