MOC president Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco yesterday paid tribute to former MOC president Major Alfred Briffa.

The latter’s passing away was announced on Sunday. He was 88. He had also served as Chef de Mission in several events, such as the Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958, the Mediterranean Games in Beirut in 1958, Mediterranean Games in Naples in 1961 and the Rome Olympic Games in 1960. He was also the chairman of the National Sports Board between 1960 and 1965. He had been made a member of the British Empire (MBE) in 1960.
