The MRFU Club sides will be holding a Seven a Side tournament at Marsa today. Sevens rugby is a faster, more spectacular version of the game, with haves of only 7 minutes because it is so exhausting. The public is invited to watch to learn more about the world’s fastest growing sport, at which the Maltese are so good.
Seven a Side Rugby is to be included in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
Barclays Super Cup final next Saturday
Kavallieri Blue Label will play Stompers TGIF in the Barclays Super Cup Final at 5pm next Saturday at Marsa.
This should be a great match between two fine running sides, and the public are invited
to come along and enjoy the spectacle of the very last game of this eventful season.
Double winning local champions Kavallieri should field their strongest side, including their two new excellent new centres, and also their strong members of the international squad, Bonavia, Borda, Grima and Vassallo.
They will hope to continue the devastating form they showed in their last two matches which makes them daunting opponents. They will also be looking to avenge a previous defeat by Stompers which rankles in their hearts.
On the other hand Stompers have problems in the pack, with Diamantino and Dreyer abroad, “Gorg” Camilleri injured. However international Mascena returns with Calleja.
Stompers’ backs should be at full strength, including international squad man Mirabelli, and feel confident that with enough ball they can give their opponents some tough competition.
