1188 is an enquiry service with a twist that makes it different to other similar services currently available on the market.
The number 1188 or, as it is referred to, “eleven-eighty-eight”, is the first 118 number that is not owned or operated by a telephony operator. Achieving a connection for this number was no easy task. However, an agreement between Maltacom plc and “eleven-eighty-eight” has been reached and the service is being offered from the fixed line only. So far this service is not operational from mobile phones.
The concept behind 1188 is that all business communication information such as telephone, mobile, fax, email, etc will be provided.
The category of service or product the business provides is assigned to the business name or professional.
This information can be obtained by simply making use of 1188.
A caller can ask for a particular business by trade or profession. One can simply define the problem and be provided with the solution.
To illustrate, a caller can ask for a panel beater, following a car accident, and he will be supplied with a name of panel beater in his or her area.
The Eleven-eighty-eight enquiry service will be available during office hours and costs 10c + Vat.
