Valletta yesterday beat Gozo FA Cup holders Xewkija Tigers 3-0 in a friendly match at the Gozo Stadium.

The match formed part of Valletta's preparations for next Saturday's clash against Montenegro's FC Buducnost in the first round of the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

At the interval, Valletta led 1-0 thanks to a goal from Massimo Grima. The same player made it 2-0 from a penalty in the second half and Gilbert Agius scored the third and final goal.

Valletta, who dominated the match from start to finish, also hit the post twice.

Next Saturday's first leg against Buducnost is being played at the Hibs Ground and starts at 6pm. The second leg is scheduled to be played in Montenegro on 25 June.
