For the first time, Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery will be taking part in a football tournament held in Northern Ireland.

They will be participating in the Junior category (Boys born on/after 1st January 1993). There are 92 teams in four different categories, Youth, Schoolboys, Juvenile and Juniors.

The Foyle Cup tournament takes place in Derry from 5th to 9th July and each year attracting many of the top names in Irish, British and European football, such as Werder Bremen, Montpellier, Brescia, Sporting Lokeren, Ferencvaros, IFK Gothenburg, Hogeborg, Armenia Bielefeld, Man Utd, Blackburn, Nottingham Forest, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, Shelbourne, Bohemians, Derry City, Distillery, Limavady United and Coleraine.

The Foyle Cup international football tournament has quickly established itself as Ireland’s premier youth soccer competition. This year special guest of honour will be Archie Mac Pherson, Eurosport and Scottish television commentator and presenter.

Besides participating in the football tournament, the Maltese contingent (made up of 42 people), will be visiting places of interest in Northern Ireland.
