The Table Tennis Academy is celebrating its second year of operation with a number of activities aimed at promoting the sport in Malta and improving the level of Table Tennis of our young generation.
The Academy shall be inaugurating new premises at the Civil Service Sports Centre in Archbishop Street, Valletta, during an Open Day that will be held today between 9am and 2.30pm. These premises shall be an addition to the current premises at the Royal Overseas Sports Centre in St Lucia Street in Valletta.
The new premises are equipped with five first Class Tibhar tables to provide the highest quality facilities. The Open Day shall consist of various exhibition matches by the Academy coaches with the participation of the top students.
There will also be an ongoing knock-out tournament among the Academy students. The coaches will be available to offer technical advice to any interested persons attending the Open Day and video highlights from various international table tennis championships will also be shown.
As part of the second year celebrations the Academy will also be hosting Milosz Pryzblik from Poland who will be holding courses during the summer months, both at the Civil Service Sports Centre and also at the Royal Overseas Centre.

4th ranking tournament
The last ranking tournament of the 2004/05 season was held last Saturday and was sponsored by Sports Experience. Participants were divided into three groups according to standard of play. After the qualifying round, the players entered the knock-out stage where the winners were determined.
These were as follows:
Advanced: Daniel Bajada; runner-up: Matthew Micallef. 3rd Daniel Vella; 4th Sergei Mikhailenk.
Intermediate: Jonathan Carter; runner-up: Luke Camilleri; 3rd Brady Saliba; 4th Josue Massa.
Novice: Matthew Caruana; runner-up: Travis Bartolo; 3rd: Ramon Grech; 4th Kurt Cauchi.
