Despite being shorn of four of their regulars, Marsascala were still strong enough to register their fourth seasonal win when facing fellow southerners Marsaxlokk.

John Licari, Chris Gialanze, Anthony Galea and goalkeeper Ian Bugeja were not at the disposal of coach Pierre Borg .

To Marsaxlokk’s credit, the third session was balanced ending with a 3-3 scoreline and then Marsaxlokk managed to win the last session 1-0 (even though they missed three consecutive man-ups for a total of two goals on six expulsions) through a Neil Kerr goal with Marsascala missing a penalty when Rueben Bonnici effected a good save on a Micallef close range shot.

Reigning champions Sliema registered an 11-goal margin win over neighbours Exiles in the Tower Road derby.

Exiles once again managed to exert initial defensive pressure changing ends 1-4 down but then had to bow down to the Blues' supremacy as the latter scored five goals in the last two sessions and even managing to miss some clear goal-scoring opportunities.

John Paris and John Soler scored a hat-trick each for the winners.

After this victory, Sliema will start thinking on next Friday's derby against Neptunes, the first of the season, but which can already be influential in both teams' quest for the championship.
