Finalists Of Westin Malta Football Awards announced

The finalists of the fourth edition of the Westin Malta Football Awards were known on Wednesday evening during a press conference.

The finalists in 11 different categories are the following:

Best Defender: William Camenzuli (Birkirkara), Massimo Grima (Valletta) and Brian Said (Sliema)

Best Midfielder: Essien Mbong (Hibernians), Precious Monye (Birkirkara) and Noel Turner (Sliema)

Best Goalkeeper: Murphy Akanji(Sliema), Reuben Gauci (Floriana) and Mario Muscat (Hibernians)

Best Forward: Gilbert Agius (Valletta), Andrew Cohen (Hibernians) and Ivan Woods (Sliema)

Best Player in Gozo: Daniel Bogdanovic (Ghajnsielem), Brian Meilaq (Ghajnsielem) and Elton Vella (Kercem)

Best Player in Futsal League: Nebjosa Mijalovic (Hibernians), Dragan Milovanovic (Serbia) and Branco Pantelic (Serbia)

Best Female Player: Rebecca D’Agostino (Birkirkara), Fiona Mangion (St. Venera), Dionne Tonna (Hibernians) and Dorianne Theuma (Hibernians)

Most Promising Youngster: Cleaven Frendo (Marsaxlokk), Alex Muscat (Sliema) and Andre Schembri (Marsaxlokk)

Best Coach: Edward Aquilina (Sliema), JJ Aquilina (Valletta) and Stephen Azzopardi (Birkirkara)

Best Foreign Player: Haruna Doda (Birkirkara), Essien Mbong (Hibernians) and Precious Monye (Birkirkara)

Best Local Player: Gilbert Agius (Valletta), Andrew Cohen (Hibernians) and Ivan Woods (Sliema).

In the meantime, Pieta player Silvan Ciscaldi’s goal against Sliema Wanderes was voted as the best of 26 goals for season 2004-2005.

The awards will be presented to the winners on the special night on 16 July and the public will also be able to choose his favourite player through SMS voting.
