The International Fair Play Committee has awarded Birkirkara player Michael Galea and club coach Stephen Azzopardi the International Fair Play Diploma in the category ‘Act of Fair Play’.

It will be recalled that Galea and Azzopardi were the joint winners of Malta’s Sportsmanship trophy for 2004. Their sportsmanship act was submitted for international recognition to the above mentioned committee and their exemplary act on the field of play has been acknowledged accordingly.

The Diploma is the second highest award for acts of sportsmanship in every kind of sport worldwide.

Galea and Azzopardi will now receive personal invitations to attend the presentation ceremony this year being held in Warsaw, Poland, during which the winners will receive their awards.
