BTS Malta Officially opened at Technopark

Malta Independent Monday, 11 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Bavarian Technology Systems (BTS), a newly set up German-owned company, has been officially opened by Investment and Information Technology Minister Austin Gatt.

The premises at Mosta Technopark were opened on 8 July in the presence of the owners, Mr and Mrs Erhard Dumps, who are themselves based in Bavaria. Also present was a delegation of key German clients who flew to Malta specifically for the occasion, in addition to local suppliers and clients.

BTS is a sister company to Dumps Electronic, a company with 25 years experience in this sector which employs over 100 people in Röhrnbach, a small town close to Munich.

Since taking over the premises early in 2004, a substantial investment programme has been implemented to upgrade the infrastructure of the factory to world class standards. It offers excellent working conditions to employees, as well as the latest technology plant and equipment.

BTS is a sub-contractor to industry, designing and assembling electronic modules mostly for industrial applications both manually as well as through surface mount technology (SMT).

All of BTS’ production is exported, either directly or indirectly, through local clients.

To date, close to f2million has been invested in Malta, and 17 people are employed here.

It is planned that the company will continue to expand in the future. Whereas many other companies on the island are “extended workbenches”, only carrying out production operations locally and delivering their products directly to the mother company, the concept for BTS has from the beginning been that it will gradually become a fully independent business entity, with its own sales, marketing and purchasing operations.
