After obtaining two wins and a draw in the first phase, the Maltese national handball U/21 team bowed out of the Partille Cup in Sweden when on Saturday afternoon they were eliminated in the last 16 round.

The Maltese, under the guidance of coach Alan Grima, faced Trbb bab el oued of Qatar. The Asian opponents were simply superior at all times despite the Maltese players’ efforts to remain in contention for a place in the quarter-finals. However, ultimately Malta lost 21-10.

The contingent is expected to arrive back in Malta tomorrow evening.
