The second edition of the Golden Cross International Singing Festival is to be held on three consecutive days from 4 to 6 August. This year’s venue will again be the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, University of Malta.
For the first time this year a pre-festival show will be held in Xlendi Bay. During this show, both the foreign and local singers will be presented to the public, the press and the members of the jury. Maltese dancing groups will be in attendance. This show will be held on Wednesday 3 August at 8pm.
This singing festival for children and youth will be hosted by Malta under the International Federation of Festival Organisers' (FIDOF) motto of peace and friendship through music and art.
This event will prove to be a golden opportunity to Maltese children and youth in the age bracket of eight to 17 years to sing songs penned by renowned Maltese and international composers and share their talents with other children coming from different parts of the world.
Ample space will be given to local talent. In fact it is pertinent to underline that several dancing groups will participate as guests in the festival.
The organising board will retain its policy of investing heavily in singers and members of the jury and once again managed to secure the participation of renowned international young singers for this year’s edition. Foreign countries who confirmed their participation are: England, Poland, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania, Russia, Serbia & Montenegro, Ukraine and Italy.
This international cultural event is being held with the support of the Education, Youth and Employment Ministry and the Malta Tourism Authority.
