Second International endorsement for Renzo Spiteri

Malta Independent Saturday, 16 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Percussion player Renzo Spiteri has been awarded an international endorsement by Paiste cymbals. This is the second major endorsement that the percussionist has received within the past two months, following the endorsement granted by the world-renowned brand of percussion instruments, Toca Percussion.

“So far, this year has been full of great surprises and challenges,” commented Renzo Spiteri. “The endorsements that I have received from Paiste cymbals and Toca Percussion are a strong indication that my work as a freelance percussionist is being given due recognition. This is further supported by the fact that my solo percussion album entitled ‘This Is My Language’, that was launched a few months ago, has received an overwhelmingly positive response, not only locally but also abroad.”

Renzo Spiteri and his ¡JunkFunk! percussion band have been recently commissioned by WasteServ (Malta) and The Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment to present music pieces orchestrated for industrial “raw” materials to help deliver an environmental message through the use of recycled material. He is currently working very closely with Maltese contemporary dance group Contact Dance Company, writing music and performing live on stage with the company. Locally, it will be presented at the Valletta Waterfront at the end of this month as part of the summer arts festival – Festival Malta 2005.

Paiste cymbals and Toca Percussion instruments are exclusively available from Olimpus Music (The Emporium, Level 3, St Louis Street, Msida). Further information about Renzo Spiteri’s solo percussion album is available from his official website, www.renzospiteri.com.
