An elderly woman was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car in Birzebbuga on Friday, the police said.

The accident took place in Brolli Street at 7.30am.

The police said the 69-year-old woman was hit by a Mazda Demio being driven by a 22-year-old. Both driver and pedestrian are Birzebbuga residents.

The elderly woman was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
