Melita Cable has announced that it has acquired the exclusive rights of the Spanish Liga and German Bundesliga for the up and coming season 2005/6. The live and exclusive games from both leagues will also be enhanced with a weekly highlight show.

“The acquisition of exclusive rights of the Spanish Liga and German Bundesliga, in addition to our exclusive rights to transmit the Barclays English Premier League, the FA Cup, the Carling Cup, the Coca-Cola Championship, World Cup qualifiers and select games of the Serie A, positions Melita Sports as the leading and only comprehensive sports franchise in Malta,” commented Franco de Gabriele – Head of Sales and Marketing of Melita Cable plc. “With the addition of these two leagues we have completed an already rich line up of football programming guaranteeing the maximum amount of live football on TV.”

In August, Melita has a rich line-up of football programming as the English football season kicks off on the 7 with the Community Shield. Moreover, for the first time, Melita will be providing the Champions League Preliminary round home fixtures of Liverpool and Manchester United in English commentary.
