San Giljan managed to join Exiles at the top of the second division standings when they had the better of Valletta, a side which was on a high following their 7-2 win over M'Xlokk last week.

A five-goal lead after 21 minutes of play, 8-3, put the Saints' minds to rest with the last session resulting in a balanced affair where six goals were shared equally by the two sides.

Note: One has to mention the present state of the press cabins. The wooden 'desks' in all the cabins have been broken making it not only very uncomfortable to sit and follow the matches but also very unsafe to work with the laptop as the only space available are the narrow windowsills. One hopes the ASA and the pool administration take some quick action.

Exiles were favourites to win a further two points in the table, yet their success over southerners Marsaxlokk was hard-fought and arrived thanks to a superior performance in the final two sessions after changing ends at 3-5 down.

M'Xlokk, coming from a heavy defeat against Valletta, seemed in the right frame of mind in the first two sessions, but just failed to win their first point of the season.
