The fifth European Promotion Cup for men Under-18 is being held in Malta this week between today and Saturday.
Taking part in the tournament are teams from Gibraltar, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Wales, Luxembourg, Scotland and Malta.
Malta is in Group A with Wales, Andorra and Gibraltar. Group B is composed of Monaco, San Marino, Scotland and Luxembourg.
The Maltese squad, coached by Bruno Di Pietrantonio and his assistant Sandro Farrugia, consists of the following players:
Gavin Muscat, Christian Busuttil, John Paul Antoncich, Terence Vella, Clint Cassar, Keith Galea, Samwel Deguara, Clayton Calleja, Emanuele Lupo, Matthew Shoults, Lee Ross and Jean Paul Bonnici.
The medical team accompanying the squad is made up of Dr Lucienne Attard and Jeffrey Formosa.
The qualifying rounds are to be played between today and Wednesday with matches every day at Ta’ Qali from 2pm onwards.
Malta plays against Wales at 9pm on Monday, against Gibraltar on Tuesday (8.45pm) and against Andorra on Wednesday (8.45pm).
No matches will be played on Thursday which is a rest day. The semi-finals round will be played on Friday from 2pm, and the matches for the placings on Saturday, starting at 10.30am.
The Opening Ceremony is being held today before the Malta-Wales match.
