Malta Independent Friday, 29 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

During a press conference held yesterday at Carmelo Abela Marketing, Mriehel, who are the sponsors for the third consecutive year, premier side Marsaxlokk presented their six new signings for the coming season which gets underway on August 5.

The players presented yesterday are Reuben Gauci, Gareth Sciberras, Kevin Sammut, Stephen Wellman, and foreign players Nuno Gomes and Wendell Gomes.

The club president Mark Scriha said he is confident that the new signings will help the side to reach the desired goals.

He also said that this could be the last big investment in the side. He said that Marsaxlokk want to improve their status gradually with a place in european competitions as their main aim for next season.

The two new foreigners were also presented during the press conference.

These are defender Nuno Gomes from Portugal and Brazilian striker Wendell Gomes who played in the Portuguese second division last season.

Team manager Peter Hartshorne said that a third foreigner could still be signed, even though coach Atanas Marinov is happy with the present squad.
