Msida SJ Unveil new signings

In a news conference held yesterday, the Committee of Msida St. Joseph F.C. unveiled the new Club signings, amongst which new Coach, Bulgarian Todor Raykov and Olalekan Ibrahim Babatunde, David Carabott, Stefano Grima, Shane Tagliaferro and Michael Valenzia as players for the upcoming season kicking off this weekend. Club President Dr. Kevin Deguara said that all those involved in the administration of the Club will do their utmost to reach the aim of enhancing on the team’s performance last season.

Coach Raikov is not a newcomer to Maltese football and to Msida. He already held the post of Technical Consultant two years ago during the Club¡’s first season in the Premier League, as well as a player and coach with other local Clubs.

New signing 20-year-old Nigerian Babatunde signed a 2 year deal. He has played in Italian Serie C with Arezzo and made 2 appearances in Serie A with Piacenza and 5 in serie B with Piacenza. Last year he played in Belgian top division with Mons.

Other Nigerian striker Daniel Nwoke has signed a new two-year deal and together with Babatunde will surely be one of the best attack duo in Maltese football.

He added that 15 players in Msida squad have Premier League experience and with the new players, the average age of the team is that of 25 years. This is a good mix of experienced players like David Carabott, Charles Sciberras and Daniel Theuma as well as three U21-International players in Josef Mifsud, Roderick Bajada and Paul Fenech and other valid young players like Omar Borg, Dino Cachia and Tyrone Farrugia and the following players who have returned to the Club after a loan-spell: Donald Gatt (Mqabba), Neil Zarb Cousin (Gharghur) and Antoine Spiteri (Kirkop).
