Violin Virtuoso Concerts And Master Classes

Internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso Aleksandar Krapovski and renowned pianist Eleonora Bekova will perform a very varied classical programme on Thursday 25 August at St James Cavalier at 8pm and on Friday 26 August at Casino Maltese, Republic Street, Valletta, at 7.30pm.

The concerts are part of the Virtuoso Classics Summer Concert Series presented by the Euro Academy of Music & Arts in collaboration with the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.

Mr Kraposki will be giving a series of Violin Master Classes between 22 and 27 August at the Euro Academy.

Aleksandar Krapovski and Eleonora Bekova return to Malta after their acclaimed success at the Manoel Theatre last year. Aleksandar Krapovski performed Tschaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the National Orchestra under the direction of Alan Chircop during the “Solisti Virtuosi” concert organised by the Stradivari Season. Many had described his performance as “stunning” Eleonora Bekova is no newcomer to the islands. She has given numerous successful performances in Malta.

The programmes for the Virtuoso Classics concerts include Mozart: Sonata No.1 in G op.30; Brahms: Sonata No.3 in D minor op. 108; Sarasate: Carmen Fantasie and Vladigerov: Rapsodie Vardar.

The Virtuoso Classics Summer Concert Series is sponsored by Lufthansa German Airlines, Portomaso, Bacchus Restaurant Mdina, HSBC Bank Malta plc, Air Malta plc, BAWAG Malta Bank Ltd, Olimpus Music, Preluna Hotel, Perfection Café Valletta, IRMCO Ltd., British Hotel, the New Dolmen Hotel and the Malta Council for Culture and the Art.

The concerts are part of Festival Malta 2005 organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and sponsored by HSBC Bank Malta plc and VISET plc.

The Euro Academy is also organising a series of Master Classes with Aleksandar Krapovski open to violin students, teachers and performers. Classes will be held in the evenings between 22 and 24 August and during the day on 27 August. Participants take part actively or as auditors. Every participant in the master classes will be offered a complimentary ticket for Mr Krapovski’s concert on 25 August at St James Cavalier. Fees are Lm2.50 (Auditors) and Lm5 (Active) per session.

Admission ticket prices for the concerts are Lm1.75 (students), Lm3, Lm5, Lm8, Lm10 and Lm15 (Golden Circle). Transport is provided from all hotels at Lm1.50 return. Aleksandar Krapovski

Born to Skopje to a family of musicians, Aleksandar Krapovski started violin lessons at the age of eight with Prof. Paskal Nikolov. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Skopje under the artistic guidance of Prof. Marina Chado. He then moved to Sofia and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts with distinction at the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov”. He won the first prizes of the National Violin Competitions in Macedonia in 1992, 1995 and 1998 and he is also winner of the National Chamber Music Competitions in 1993, 1996 and 1999.

In 1998 and 1999 he was awarded the “Klimentiana Rafailovska” Special Awards for the best student at the Academy. He is also a laureate of the 2003 International Competition Pancho Vladigerov in Shumen and winner of the “Musicians of the New Milenium” in Skopje, 2004.

Aleksandar is the assistant concert master of the Vienna Youth Orchestra with conductor maestro Herbert Boch and is also a member of UBS Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra with conductor maestro James Levine. He has performed as soloist with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Macedonia, the Chamber Orchestra of the National Philharmonic, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Sofia, The Youth Orchestra of Slovenia, The Symphony Orchestra of Pleven, The Shumen Philharmonic, The Pazardjik Symphony Orchestra among others.

In 2004, Aleksandar Krapovski performed as soloist in a performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the National Orchestra of Malta under the direction of Alan Chircop.
