Performing to the best of her ability in the 3rd. Round of the "San Michel U14 International Tennis Tournament, Elaine Genovese succeeded to beat the lanky Russian girl Yulia Bikchentova in two straight sets.

The first set was a balanced affair with the two girls using their powerful forehand drives to their utmost. With the score reading 4 - 4, the Russian seemed set to win the ninth game which she was leading 40-0. However, Elaine had other ideas and went on to win the set 6-4.

The second set, contrary to the first, was a one sided affair with the Maltese player controlling the aggression of Bikchentova to win 6 - 0. In the Semi-Final, Genovese will meet the Italian Stefania Postorino.

The other three Girls in the semi-finals are Postorino (ITA), Popova (RUS) and Mathis (AUT).

In the Boys section, at semi-finals will be Siringo(ITA) vs Lago (ITA) and Zito (ITA) vs Kushakov (UKR)

In the Doubles competition, the duo Alan Calleja / Filippo Mangano have clinched a place in the semi-final.

Kimberley Cassar/Larissa Schut beat Francesca Franco/Laura Ferrauto 6-0, 7-6 to reach the semi-final of the Girls' Doubles.

In the Consolation Event( Boys ), the Maltese players Alan Calleja and Omar Sudzuka have clinched a place in the semi-final. Kimberley Cassar and Brenda Galea have reached the second round of the competition in the Girls' section.

The Tournament will come to an end tomorrow when all the finals will be played.
