Local Football: Dutchman Jan Artz favourite to take over at Floriana after Jimmy Briffa’s resignation

Dutchman Jan Artz seems to be the favourite to take over the reins at Floriana FC after the resignation of Jimmy Briffa on Monday.

Artz had been appointed technical director at the club a few weeks ago.

Briffa’s resignation had been expected in one way or another, especially after the disappointing start in the club’s Premier League campaign where they have collected just one points from three matches.

So far, they have lost to Pieta 0-2 and Hibernians 0-3 and have drawn 1-1 against Valletta.

Floriana’s next game is against Msida St. Joseph on 10 September.

Clint Micallef back with Msida on a one-season loan

Msida St. Joseph and Birkirkara have reached agreement over the local transfer till the end of the season of defender Clint Micallef.

Karl Ebejer is also joining Msida on loan from Floriana till the end of the season. Micallef had already been on loan with the Saints the past season.

Micallef and Ebejer join six other new players in the Msida squad – Olalekan Ibrahim Babatunde, David Carabott, Shane Tagliaferro, Stefano Grima, Michael Valenzia and Mark Pullicino.

The Saints had started the season with two defeats against Mosta and Birkirkara, but obtained their first win against Valletta in their last encounter.
