As part of the celebrations in connection with the twinning of Sliema with the French town of Les Sables-d’Olonne, the mayor and local council of Sliema have invited the Maltese choir EnKor to give a performance in the Independence Garden, Sliema, on Tuesday, 6 September at 9pm.
The French mayor, M. Guédon, representatives of the French town and other distinguished local guests are among those invited. The choir will sing a selection from its already popular repertoire as well as a new piece in French and the traditional Maltese piece L-Imnarja. It will perform
classical music and popular gospel pieces as well as its own original compositions, which have been greatly appreciated in the past.
EnKor has already performed at several local events. Apart from performing at the celebrations in May 2004 on the occasion of Malta’s entry into the EU, the choir has sung at various charity marathons and has been recorded live for both television and radio broadcasting.
EnKor was also invited to perform at the Dutch ambassador’s residence in July last year on the occasion of the beginning of the Dutch EU-presidency. The highlight of the year was performing at a gala concert in the Netherlands last December to mark the end of the Dutch EU-presidency.
The choir also gives seasonal concerts which have become a permanent part of its calendar of events.
