It was a highly successful weekend for Malta’s challenger ESI Chaudron when on Sunday, the second day of the Mediterranean Grand Prix, it maintained its opening day performance by securing another runners-up placing which gave the local team 14 valuable points for their overall classification and a prestigious podium place.

Italian team Jolly Drive won the SuperSport Class with third and fourth placing going to Pierto Pellegrini Allufer (Italy) and British team Buzzi Bullet respectively. This significant result put team ESI Chaudron in a creditable third placing overall with 41 points enjoying an eight point lead over fourth placed Pierto Pellegrini Allufer (Italy) in a seven boats contest.

Austrian team Wettpunkt.com recorded an outstanding victory in the Evolution Class this weekend which is bound to have a great impact on the World Championship standings where favourite Sony (Italy) are now trailing 14 points behind the Austrian team. Italian teams OSG, Thuraya and Cantieri del Mediterraneo won second, third and fourth places respectively.

The sixth and final Grand Prix making up this year’s UIM PowerboatP1 World Championship, which as overall classifications stand, is expected to be a grand showdown, will be the Grand Prix of Naples to be held between 30 September and 2 October.
