Malta’s Under 20 squad taking part in the first international UEFA tournament this season, has been announced.

Malta is in a group which also includes Poland and Ukraine, apart from the hosts, Portugal.

In the opening match, Malta is to meet Ukraine next Tuesday while Portugal meet Poland.

Two days later, the losers of the two matches play each other for third place and the winners face each other in the final.

The Malta squad, under the charge of coach Mark Miller and his assistant Edwin Camilleri, is the following:

Goalkeepers: Henry Bonello, Bernard Paris.

Defenders: Edmund Agius, Karl Attard, Steve Bezzina, Brandon Bonnici, Jonathan Caruana, C. Gatt Baldacchino, Justin Grioli.

Midfielders: Andrei Agius, Matthew Bartolo, Clayton Failla, Dyson Falzon, John Mintoff, J. Sammut Vasquez, Joseph Vassallo.

Strikers: Angus Buhagiar, Anthony Vassallo, Ian Zammit, Dylon Zarb.

Valletta striker Ian Zammit is expected to be one of the two players who will have to be dropped as the squad is trimmed to 18 players.

Zammit strained some knee ligaments in the Bank of Valletta Premier League match against Marsaxlokk last week and is expected to remain out of action for at least six weeks.
