Bank Of Valletta Premier League: Two teams hope to return to winning form

Malta Independent Wednesday, 21 September 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Bank of Valletta Premier League continues this afternoon with just one match.

It will be the Floriana-Marsaxlokk encounter which is scheduled to start at 6pm.

The other scheduled clash between Hamrun and Mosta has had to be put back by one week in view of the fact that the two teams have several players missing, on duty with the Under 17 squad in Portugal.

The match between Floriana and Marsaxlokk is important for both teams. The Greens are still searching for their first victory after five matches, from which they have collected just one point.

It is obvious they still cannot get it right this season and are still struggling. They are finding the going tough and unless they achieve a morale boosting win, problems will be expected to increase.

On the other hand, Marsaxlokk also need to win today’s clash if they are to remain in touch with the leading trio.

The southern seasiders have missed out on five points from their last two matches and now have an uphill task to get back into the reckoning, at least at the moment.

Suspended players

Midfielder Paul Fenech of Msida St Joseph and goalkeeper Reuben Debono of Marsaxlokk were suspended one match each by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner yesterday.
