Two of Malta’s most popular disc jockeys – Joe Tanti and Alfie Fabri – have joined Super One Radio in time for the launching of the station’s autumn schedule.

Joe Tanti had been off the air since former Radio Calypso presenters took over A3FM earlier this year; Alfie Fabri has been the driving force behind Ten-Sixty-Six, the PBS station which is on air on 106.6 FM when Parliament is not in session. Asked why they had approached these two popular disc jockeys to join Super One Radio, Mr St John said Super One has always given importance to local talent and does its best to get the best possible talent on the island to join its ever growing team.

“Bearing in mind that Radio Super One has been topping the popularity polls since it was set up, the company feels it is its duty to make best use of local talent to improve its team,” he said.

Over the last couple of years, popularity polls have seen Super One Radio maintaining its lead but losing its percentage share, as well as audience size, so a revamp was needed.

At the same time, work on the station’s new studios are at a “very advanced stage,” Mr St John said. “The radio studios will now be fully automated. Modern equipment is being installed and the working environment has been improved.”

In December, Super One will have an Open Day for all its listeners, viewers, and even the general public, to see the revamped Super One Complex.

“The complex was badly in need of refurbishment, which we started at the beginning of summer. On Open Day, all will be able to see the new upgraded studios and the general facelift, mostly done by the company's employees,” Mr St John told The Malta Independent on Sunday.
