Birkirkara FC yesterday denied that they are showing interest in getting former Sliema, Valletta, St George’s and Malta goalie Ernest Barry, as their No 2 goalkeeper.

A club official said it was true there had been some form of talks, but the club’s administration had immediately decided to shelve the issue as they thought Barry, now 38 years old, was past his prime, and it was not in the interest of the club to sign him.
