Snooker: Mark King Wins German Open title

Mark King won the Fuerth German Open tournament on Monday night when he defeated Michael Holt 4-2 in the final.

Holt had earlier beaten Malta’s Tony Drago

3-0 in a match for a place in the last eight. Holt had then defeated Stuart Bingham 3-0 to reach the semi-finals where he beat Jimmy White 3-1.

King beat Matthew Stevens 3-1 in the semi-final and Ian McCulloch 3-0 in the quarter-final.

The winner of the tournament also compiled the highest break – a 139, while the second best belonged to Barry Hawkins – a 136. He also had another century break – a 112 – during the same tournament.

The season continues at the weekend with the start of the Grand Prix final rounds in Preston where Tony Drago will be meeting Barry Hawkins in the next round.
